Δεν πρόκειται απλώς για ένα όμορφο κατάλυμα. Πρόκειται για ένα ολοκληρωμένο αισθητικό αποτέλεσμα, όπου η αρχιτεκτονική, η φύση και το τοπίο συνυπάρχουν αρμονικά. Ιδιαίτερη εντύπωση προκαλεί η αρχιτεκτονική του τοπίου. Η φύτευση, οι διαδρομές, οι πέτρινες κατασκευές, οι χώροι χαλάρωσης και η αξιοποίηση του φυσικού περιβάλλοντος δεν ανταγωνίζονται το τοπίο της Μάνης· αντίθετα, μοιάζουν να αποτελούν φυσική προέκτασή του. Είναι σαν ο χώρος να δημιουργήθηκε με σκοπό να αναδείξει την ομορφιά που υπήρχε ήδη εκεί. Και ίσως αυτό να είναι το μεγαλύτερο επίτευγμα: ότι ο άνθρωπος δεν προσπάθησε να επιβληθεί στη φύση, αλλά να συνομιλήσει μαζί της. Ο κ. Ζούβελος φαίνεται να έχει κατανοήσει κάτι πολύ σημαντικό: η πραγματική πολυτέλεια δεν βρίσκεται στην υπερβολή. Βρίσκεται στην ποιότητα των υλικών, στην αρμονία, στη σωστή αναλογία, στη λειτουργικότητα, στην καθαρότητα των γραμμών και κυρίως στις μικρές λεπτομέρειες που ο επισκέπτης μπορεί να μην αντιληφθεί συνειδητά, αλλά αισθάνεται συνολικά. Και ίσως το πιο συγκινητικό είναι πως στο Tenaron Blue δεν φιλοξενείσαι απλώς σε έναν παλιό πύργο· φιλοξενείσαι μέσα στην ίδια την ιστορία. Οι πέτρινοι τοίχοι, τα σημάδια του χρόνου και κάθε γωνιά του κουβαλούν μνήμες μιας άλλης εποχής. Για λίγες ημέρες δεν είσαι απλώς επισκέπτης· γίνεσαι, έστω και για λίγο, κομμάτι μιας ιστορίας που συνεχίζεται. Κι αυτή η αίσθηση είναι ανεκτίμητη. Η διαμονή μας εκεί ήταν μια απόλυτα μαγική εμπειρία! Από την πρώτη στιγμή που περάσαμε την πόρτα, νιώσαμε την αληθινή έννοια της φιλοξενίας. Η υποδοχή από τον κ. Κώστα ήταν εξαιρετικά θερμή, με μια αυθεντική ευγένεια που σπάνια συναντάς πια. Η αισθητική και το design του ξενοδοχείου είναι ένα έργο τέχνης. Η προσοχή στη λεπτομέρεια, ο εκλεπτυσμένος χαρακτήρας και η μοναδική ατμόσφαιρα συνδυάζουν την πολυτέλεια με την απόλυτη άνεση για αυτόν που θα επιλέξει την διαμονή. Το δωμάτιο ήταν πεντακάθαρο, απίστευτα καλόγουστο και εξοπλισμένο με τα πάντα. Το κρεβάτι ήταν τόσο αναπαυτικό που δυσκολευόμασταν να το αποχωριστούμε το πρωί αν και πρωινοί τύποι. Το πρωινό ένα γαστρονομικό ταξίδι από μόνο του! Φρέσκα, τοπικά προϊόντα, χειροποίητες λιχουδιές και όλα φτιαγμένα με μεράκι (τα λουκάνικα ήταν απλά μοναδικά). Το προσωπικό και ο κ. Κώστας αξίζουν τα περισσότερα συγχαρητήρια. Ήταν πάντα εκεί με ένα ειλικρινές χαμόγελο, έτοιμοι να μας προτείνουν τα καλύτερα κρυμμένα μυστικά της περιοχής αν και δεν ήταν η πρώτη μας φορά στην εν λόγω περιοχή. Το Tainaron Blue Retreat δεν είναι απλά ένα κατάλυμα, είναι προορισμός από μόνος του. Φύγαμε με τις καλύτερες αναμνήσεις και την υπόσχεση ότι θα επιστρέψουμε σύντομα. The Mani is a special corner of the world, please read Patrick Leigh Fermor. The care taken at the hotel for looking after you, including breakfast, drinks and dinner is superb. There is a lovely small pool to cool off whilst soaking up the view. Nearby is Porto Kagio, an old pirates nest with tavernas and restaurants, if you want to forego the excellent dinners at the hotel. This is a place for lovers or like us somewhat older but still happy in each others company The only sanday beach of the southern Mani is just minutes away. ☹The grotto like rooms in the tower are very cosy and well equipped, if only a bit small as far as the wardrobes are concerned as well as the shower in the bathroom. Very romantic though!
